Srinagar, June 13: 10th Annual Conference of Indian Academy of Nephrolgy (IANCON-2015) oragnised by the department of Nephrology, SKIMS was inaugurated here today at SKIMS auditorium. The renowned nephrologists from different parts of country and abroad deliberated on various types of kidney diseases including dialysis, renal transplantation, chronic kidney diseases and latest advances in nephrology.
Dr. S.C Dash President Indian Academy of Nephrology stressed on indigenous research and appreciated efforts and interest of nephrologists of SKIMS for organizing the event.
Director & EOSG, SKIMS Dr. Showkat A. Zargar highlighted activities of department of nephrology/urology departments which treat patients with latest procedures for various types of kidney diseases. The existing state of art dialysis unit is expanded where 50 patients per day will receive dialysis, he informed. He complimented the department of nephrology for hosting the conference. Such events are of great academic importance and help in creating awareness about various diseases in particular field. Medical experts participating in the event share their perspectives and deliberate on new advances in related field which is critical to remain abreast with latest developments in the field which will benefit students faculty and various participants, he added.
Organising secretary & Professor Nephrology Dr. Khurshid Banday said the conference is of great significance as various kidney diseases are on rise in Kashmir due to rise in hypertension and diabetes in Kashmir and experts participating in the conference will give their overview and share information about the latest advancements in the field of nephrology.
Dean SKIMS Dr. GulDr. Ghulam Hassan Mallik, Convenor, organizing committee IANCON 2015 also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Muzaffar Wani Joint Organising Secretary thanked guests, faculty and participants and administrative staff to make the event successful.
