Srinagar, June 24: Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) employees have criticized LIC Management and Govt. of India for what they called their irresponsive attitude towards the demand of wage revision even after a period of three years after the wage revision fell due on 01-08-2012, by holding massive demonstrations in lunch recess today in all the 19 offices of LIC of India in Jammu & Kashmir, as a part of joint call of all classes of employees at All India Level.
The programme at Jammu was held outside D.O Cell Jammu & jointly led by Sh. Narinder Sharma Divisional Secretary LIC Class-1 Federation, Sh. Dinesh Singh Slathia NOINO, comrade Pawan Gupta Divisional Secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division, & Sh. Ramesh Kumar of NFIFWI of Class-2.
The leaders said that the Finance Minister while visiting Central Office of LIC at Mumbai appreciates the employees of LIC for their best services to policy holders, and also the LIC Management says the employees of LIC are not only the employees, but they are the ambassadors of THE INDUSTRY, but when the question of WAGE REVISION of employees is there, both are not showing any concern.
“It is totally unjustified that when the annual wage hike in corporate sector is nearly 12.5%, the LIC Management is offering only 12.5% for a period of five years. It was the public sector in India especially the LIC and GIC of India that had saved the Indian economy from total collapse during financial crisis 2008, and now instead of rewarding the employees, they are being compelled to move on agitational path for their very genuine demands. It was stressed the Management should come with reasonable offers meeting the aspirations of employees keeping in view the basis of Total Premium Income of the industry,” a statement issued here said.
The employees strongly and very clearly rejected linking of any conditionalities with the Wage revision. It was unanimously resolved to make the joint programme of agitation a big success with ONE DAY STRIKE on 8th of July 2015. The employees also placed the demand of one more option for pension.
Others who spoke on the occasion Comrade Ramesh Chand joint secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division, Sh. Ravi Pandita,. (Class-1- Federation), Sh. Ramesh Kumar Class-2), Comrade Dinesh Sharma, Sh. Vijay Khajuria.
