KUPWARA, JUNE 30: Minister of State for Social Welfare and Health, Ms Asiya Naqash today said the Government headed by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to provide financial assistance to the socially backward and destitute students for studies through various social welfare schemes.
The Minister was speaking at a cheque distribution function organized in connection with handing-over scholarships worth Rs 79.19 lakh to the students of militancy affected families.
The Minister said that Social Welfare Department is providing financial assistance to the militancy affected school going orphans under project (ASSIST), NFCH@Rs 1000 per month upto class 12, Rs 1250 for graduation/post-graduation and Rs 1500 for professional courses. The Social Welfare Department has covered 594 such orphans under the scheme in the district.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Advocate Abdul Haq Khan, Member Rajya Sabha, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, MLA Langate Er. Abdul Rashid, District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, officers of district administration and senior citizens were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Additional District Development Commissioner, Kupwara presented the welcome address, while District Social Welfare Officer highlighted the progress achieved under various social welfare schemes in district Kupwara.
