BUDGAM, JULY 03: Deputy Commissioner Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad today inaugurated Digital India Week here at a meeting of District Officers and educationists.
The Deputy Commissioner while giving overview of the programme highlighted the importance of promoting e-governance saying it reduces the government- citizen gap. He called for observing the programme across the district, saying it was imperative to promote its awareness among the people, an official statement said. He said new generation has to be essentially computer literate in order to be relevant in the new development trend. For the purpose, he highlighted the need for popularizing computer education
Assistant Commissioner Development, District Panchayat Officer, District Information Officer, District Informatics Officer and IT support staff of all line departments of district Budgam were also present on the occasion.
A PowerPoint presentation was presented by NIC Budgam highlighting various e-Services like Digital Locker, Jeevan Pramaan, National Scholarship Portal, e-Health, online quiz, etc.
The participants were also given hands on demo sessions on the above services, an official statement said. Deputy Commissioner was the chief guest on the occasion who formally inaugurated the week in presence of various district level officers.
The District Informatics Officer dwelt in detail about the aims and objectives of Digital India programme. He said the country is fast moving in the e-governance regime wherein the public services are delivered electronically. The concept, he said is to promote efficiency and transparency adding Digital India primarily focuses on citizen welfare and bridges the gap between the government and the citizen.
