Srinagar, July 5 : The 48th death anniversary of Mahajr-e-Millat, Mirwaiz Moulvi Yousuf Shah was today observed across the Line of Control.
In this connection a public rally was held at the historic Aali Masjid Srinagar. During the gathering prominent Ulema, social, political and people belonging to different awalks of life participated in large numbers.
Paying rich tributes to Mahjr-e-Millat late Mirwaiz Moulvi Yousuf Shah on his 47th death anniversary for his commitment towards movement, politics, society and religion in Kashmir, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq vowed to continue his mission till the lasting and permanent solution of Kashmir issue is not found in accordance with aspirations of the people of Kashmir .
Mirwaiz stated the contributions of Mahajr-e-Millat regarding the political movement, religion and politics were unmatchable. He stated that it was his commitment and resolve towards the cause that Mahajr-e-Millat preferred to live away from his home in poverty, but did not budge an inch from his political stand. He stated that the sacrifices of the late Mirwaiz and lakhs of other people was priceless asset with the Kashmiri nation. He said the sacrifices united the whole nation so as to fight for right to self determination which is continuing even today.
Mirwaiz stated that the AAC was not founded 25 years ago, but its roots can be traced back to 1931 when the founders of freedom struggle laid its foundation. He stated that Mahajar-e-Millat moulvi Yousf Shah laid the foundation of Muslim Conference in Kashmir and from then onwards it went through testing times and is finally standing to this day.
The Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that Mahajr-e-Millat lived in exile while Shaheeed-e-Millat mirwaiz Mohamamd Farooq sacrificed his life for the cause. Mirwaiz stated that he will continue to uphold the tradition and values of the family be it religious , political or social for which the institution of the Mirwaiz was formed at all costs
Mirwaiz stated that military might of India could not suppress the popular movement for freedom in Kashmir. He said that peace and stability will not arrive in the region without solving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with peoples aspirations, nor the dream of South Asian prosperity could be achieved.
He appealed Kashmiris to abide by the social, political and religious message of Mahajr-e-Millat so that we can tread towards the path of freedom with resolve and commitment.
On the occasion Mirwaiz also threw light in detail on Jang-e-Badar and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of that battle.
The participants who paid tributes to Mahajr-e-Millat for his religious, social and political contributions in Kashmir include APHC leader Moulana Masroor Ansari, Dr. Yousuf Al Umar, Moulana Showket Hussein Keng, , Molana Khursheed Ahmed Qanoongo, , Moulana Lal Din of Jammu, MS Rehamn Shamas, Advocate Shahid ul Islam, GN Zaki, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Ghulam Qadir Beigh, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi and others.
Mirwaiz also released a new edition of the Kashmiri Tafseer of Quran Bian-ul-Furqaan authored by the Mahar-e-Millat Mirwaiz yousuf Shah on the occasion.
Earlier Qurankhani was held at Mirwaiz Manzil in this regard during which noted Ulemas and Awami Action Committee (AAC) members participated. Besides, offering Quran Khwani, the participants held special prayers for the Majr-e-Millat, Shaheed Millat and other Martyrs.(KNS)
