SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Before concluding his three day visit to the state, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today stressed upon Congress leaders and workers to narrow down their differences and work for the strengthening of the party.
Rahul Gandhi had a surprise visit at M. A road and had a tea in a small tea stall near Maisuma. He also visit Hazratbal and Kheer Bawani temple at Tulmula Ganderbal.
After meeting with Congress leaders and workers at party headquarters here and at Srinagar international airport, Congress general secretary told the Congressmen that his visit to the state will only prove fruitful, when local congressmen would strengthening the party by narrowing down their differences.
He also assured the congressman that all the inputs which have been given by them during his visit to the state would be communicated to high command and would be addressed according.
“Our real strength is our grass root workers. We have to rejoin them again with the party. Once we would succeed in this direction, congress party will emerge stronger in the state,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi early morning visited Kheer Bawani temple in Ganderbal to pay obeisance. He later visited the nearby shrine of Hazrat Baba Haider Wali (RA) also to pay obeisance.
Rahul also paid obeisance at Hazratbal Shrine on the banks of the famous Dal Lake and at a temple in Ishber Nishat.
Rahul Gandhi also wanted to visit the shrine of Makhdoom sahib atop the Hariparbat hillock in downtown Srinagar.
However, the security agencies did not allow the visit at such a short notice.
Rahul also visited the party headquarters here after the last years flood. During his visit to Party headquarters, he interacted with the party cadres.
Just after leaving the Congress party office at M A Road for airport, Rahul Gandhi expressed a desire to visit Lal Chowk and the cavalcade made a u-turn at Jehangir Chowk and halted near Maisuma Chowk for tea.
Rahul Gandhi made a surprise visit to a local Teal stall and ordered tea and snacks at a local vendor.
Rahul sat on a bench till the vender makes the tea. The Rahul Gandhi later gave Rs 200 to the vender for offering the tea.
The onlookers got surprised to see the cavalcade of Rahul stopped and taking from the vender.
He was accompanied by Congress leader Ambika Soni and local Congress leaders.
Congress Vice President also visited Bal Ashram at Ishber ( Nishat) and had a brief interaction with children.
