Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik along with dozens has been arrested at Lal Chowk today when he was leading a procession against mysterious killings, VHP intimidations and choking of political space in Jammu Kashmir. According to a statement issued to KNS, earlier JKLF token hunger strike was changed into a protest demonstration after government authorities denied permission to hold it at Lala Rukh hotel hall. Due to heavy rains the actual venue of hunger strike was changed from Partap Park to Lala Rukh hotel hall but authorities denied permission to the peaceful program. After being denied permission JKLF decided to hold a protest demonstration and sit-in at Lal Chowk. Led by JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, hundreds of people chanting slogans in favor of freedom, martyrs and against mysterious killings, VHP intimidations and blanket ban on peaceful activities marched from Abi- Guzar towards Lal chowk (Ghanta ghar). On reaching near Tyndale Biscoe School, police and forces in large numbers cordoned the rally and tried to stop the march. Protesters provided a stiff resistance. Police on the occasion arrested Yasin sahib along APDP chairperson Mtr Parveena Ahangar, father of martyr Tufail Matoo, Muhammad Ashraf Matoo, JKLF vice chairmen advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt and Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal, leaders Javed Ahmad Zargar, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Siraj ud din Mir, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Syed Nisar Jeelani, Bashir Ahmad Boya, Muhammad Rafiq War, Professor Javed, Ghulam Rasool Hazari, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Muhammad Haneef Dar, Muhammad Azeem Zargar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganaie, Imtiyaz Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Amin Sofi, Abdul Rashid khan, Shakir Ahmad Aahangar, Sheikh Muhammad Afzal ,Owaise Ahmad Khan and Meraj ud Din Butt etc. Prior to the protest rally, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing media said that because of heavy rains venue of hunger strike was changed from Partap park to Lala Rukh hotel hall but government authorities denied permission to this peaceful political program. After being denied the permission, JKLF decided to hold a protest demonstration and sit-in at Ghanta Ghar Lal Chowk. Yasin Malik said that our protest is against the spree of mysterious killings in north Kashmir in which many including an innocent 3 year old kid also lost his life. He said that these kind of barbaric killings have no place in civilized societies and every human being condemns these killings. He said that Kashmiris want an impartial international probe into these mysterious killings so that the real culprits behind these killings are exposed and brought to justice. Yasin Malik said that this protest is also against the cowardly intimidations by RSS and VHP who have threatened Kashmiris of blockade on bovine meat issue. He said that Kashmiri Muslims, who have sacrificed more than hundred thousand lives for freedom, cannot be frightened by such mean tactics and we will remain steadfast to our religious belief and freedom struggle. Condemning the ongoing suppression in Jammu Kashmir, Yasin Malik said that so-called PDP led government at the behest of RSS has created an atmosphere of fear throughout Jammu Kashmir. A blanket ban has been imposed on every kind of political activities and condolence meetings are banned. Nocturnal raids, arrests, restrictions, intimidations and other oppressive means have become an order of the day. He said that today’s protest is also against this blanket ban and unilateral government sponsored violence of Mufti led regime. Yasin Malik said that rulers must bear in mind that atrocities, oppression and intimidations have never succeeded in defeating any nation seeking freedom and these oppressive measures are bound to fail in Jammu Kashmir also. He said that Kashmiris despite these barbaric, undemocratic acts of the so-called rulers will continue their struggle and every hardship coming in this way will be resisted firmly.
