Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today convened a joint meeting of Hurriyat Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee. The meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of all the Hurriyat constituents. The meeting discussed in detail the present political, organizational and other matters relating the ongoing movement. In the meeting the participants described the hegemonic and dictatorial attitude of the ruling regime which has curbed the peaceful political activity of the real representative leadership of Kashmiri people by imposing day in and day out restriction on their moment as highly deplorable. They further stated that freedom of expression has been strangulated and the right to assemble is denied by using suppressive tactics and military might. The meeting highly condemned this attitude of the ruling regime and it was stated that on the one hand these people talk of goli nahi boli but on the other hand the leadership of Kashmiris is put under house arrest or incarcerated in jails and the aspirations of the people are suppressed by brutal force. It was also stated that besides the political rights, a policy of curbing the religious rights of Kashmiris has also been started. Curbs on the freedom of expression has been extended even to deny Internet Connectivity to the people. In the meeting it was stated that in the ongoing 70th annual meeting of UN General Assembly though the discussion on Global Progress, Terrorism, Refugees and on Change of Climate is positive but the challenges that dispute on Kashmir and Palestine issue is posing to the world peace can’t be ignored and unless these issues are solved the world can’t have lasting peace. The meeting stressed upon United Nations and the world powers to take concrete steps in this direction. In the meeting it was also decided to bring more vitality and swiftness in the public contact programme of APHC.
