SRINAGAR, Sep 30: The Supreme Court has listed Jammu and Kashmir Government’s petition for an appropriate directive on the beef ban issue on October 5.
In its petition, the state government has sought Apex Court’s intervention in order to ensure communal harmony is not disrupted in Jammu and Kashmir by inconsistent judicial pronouncements.
The beef ban in Jammu and Kashmir has pitted two benches of the state high court against each other, forcing the government to seek the intervention of the Supreme Court.
The recent High Court order asking the state government to enforce the ban on sale and consumption of beef has triggered widespread anger and tension in Kashmir.
