The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Wednesday resumed the proceedings following the revocation of the suspension of legislators of Opposition National Conference by the Speaker, Kavinder Gupta, after a request by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and a sit-in by the Opposition party at the Assembly entrance. As soon as the Lower House began its proceedings today morning, Sayeed asked Gupta to reconsider his decision of suspension of two NC legislators, Altaf Kaloo and Abdul Majid Larni, from the House. Other legislators including CPIM leader Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami also requested the Speaker to revoke his decision. After speaker announced his decision of revocation of suspension, Tarigami and Secretary LA were asked to communicate the decision to NC legislators who were sitting on a sit-in outside the house. Earlier, the main Opposition, NC, staged a sit-in outside the Legislative Assembly to protest the suspension of two of its members. Led by the former chief minister Omar Abdullah, the protesters included senior leaders Ali Muhammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul and others. On Tuesday, Kaloo and Larni were suspended for disrupting the proceedings of the Lower House after the Speaker refused to allow discussion on Article 35A that upholds special status of permanent residents of J&K.
