Opposition National Conference, Peoples Democratic Front chief Hakim Yaseen and Democratic Nationalist Front chief Ghulam Haasan Mir Sunday demanded that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed should resign over the death of Zahid Rasool Bhat, a Kashmiri trucker who succumbed to his burn injuries in Safdargunj hospital in New Delhi this afternoon. Murder similar to that of Dadri lynching: Sagar NC General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Mohamamd Sagar said that it was very unfortunate that a youth from Kashmir was killed by Hindutva elements in Udhampur by attacking him and his associate with petrol bombs. “Zahid’s murder is similar to that of Dadri lynching when a violent mob martyred him in his house over beef rumour,” Sagar said. “Hindu parties like BJP, RSS, Bajrandal have let their goons free to kill Muslims. India, including Kashmir, is ruled by goons and it is with such goons that PDP led by Mufti Sayeed formed an alliance in Jammu and Kashmir.” Zahid Rasool Bhat of Botengoo in Anantnag succumbed from his burn injuries which he and his driver suffered during an attack by alleged Hindu mob in Udhampur in Jammu province when their truck was parked on Highway. Sagar said if the chief minister has guts he must resign over these murderous assaults by his coalition partner, BJP. “It was only after Mufti’s boss, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, condemned the Dadri lynching of a Muslim man, he also issued a condemnation statement, which cleary shows that he is following BJP’s dictation,” he said. He said that it was sheer hypocrisy from PDP to condemn such incidents. “On one hand they (PDP) share power with them in the state and on the other side they condemn attacks on Muslims by Hindutva goons. Isn’t it sheer hypocrisy?” he added. Govt has failed to protect Kashmiris: Hakeem Talking to KNS, PDF chairman Hakeen Yaseen while condemning the death also said that the government led by PDP chief Mufti Sayeed has failed to protect the people of Kashmir from RSS and BJP’s murderous assaults. “Mufti Sayeed’s claims of safeguarding lives of people and improving the situation prove mere trash and politcal rhetoric when innocent’s like Zahid Ahmad ae killed by violent mobs. The CM should immediately resign from the RSS-BJP coalition if he is sincere to the people of the state,” Yaseen told KNS. CM should resign: Mir DNP chief Ghulam Hassan Mir, while talking to KNS, said that such killings of civilians by violent mobs are strongly condemnable. “Chief Minster Mufti Mohammad Sayeed should resign and sooner the better for him. He has no right to share power with BJP and RSS that openly promotes and noursihes politics of hate against Muslims in India and in Jammu and Kashmir,” Mir said. Mufti Sahab has no right to sit on CM’s chair: Tarigami CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam M.Y. Tarigami termed the death of Zahid Rasool Bhat as unfortunate and highly condemnable. “If people like Zahid are openly killed by mobs, what does it tell about the safeguarding of lives by the government which is led by as senior a politician like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Mufti Sahab has no right to sit on the CM’s chair with the support of hate-propagating BJP,” Tarigami siad, adding that he should step down as chief minister and snap ties with the right-wing BJP and RSS combine.
