Security forces launched massive searches in forests Tuesday afternoon after a brief shootout with militants in Bandipora districts. SP Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Choudhary, told KNS that police and army are searching the Sathri forests in Bandipora following a brief shootout with militants. The police officer said on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Sathri forest in Bandipora, police, Special Operation Group (SOG) and army launched a joint operation. Following the cordon, few firing shots were exchanged between militants and security forces. But the militants slipped off the cordon. Choudhary said that the police has not details about the number of militants and their identity. The searches were going on till this report was filed.
