Protests erupted in Baramulla town Tuesday morning after a body of a woman was found by police in an abandoned state near a roadside, forcing police to constitute a special team to investigate into the killing. Police has identified the body 65 years Kundan Kour, 65, widow of Late Karan Singh of Kanlibagh, Baramulla. They said that the woman was first hit on her head and later he throat was slit. Scores of protesters, including Muslims and Sikhs, blocked the main road in Baramulla town after the woman was found dead. The protesters demanded that police should immediately investigate into the killing, suspected to be carried out to stoke communal violence in the area. Quoting eyewitnesses KNS correspondent said that the slain woman was coming from her home in Sangri this morning for worship at the Gurduwara ChatiPadshahi. Reacting to the protests, SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussian constituted a special investigation team to investigate the murder. “The SIT has been directed to nail down the culprits and produce the case for judicial determination at an earliest. SIT has been asked to submit the progress of case on daily basis,” SSP said. He said that prima facia it has been established that the woman has been murdered. “An FIR No. 182/2015 u/s 307, 302 RPC has been registered in investigation has been taken up. After medico-legal formalities the dead body has been handed over to the next of kin for last rites,” Hussian said. Meanwhile, the traders and Sikh bodies have appealed people to maintain calm and brotherhood to defeat those elements who want to stoke communal tension in the area. Chairman APSCC Jagmohan Singh Raina All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee has demanded a high level time bound probe into the killing of the woman. Condemning the killing, Raina demanded a forensic probe to nab the culprits responsible for the murder. While appealing for calm, Raina called for a time bound probe into the murder.
