The high level review meeting on cross-LoC trade including modernization of Jammu and Kashmir Police by MHA in New Delhi, scheduled for tomorrow, was postponed. Official sources in the state administration told KNS that they have got the intimation from the MHA that the scheduled meeting on Wednesday was postponed. “The meeting has postponed by the MHA .We have been told that the next date of the meeting will be conveyed to the State officials shortly,” one of the officials of the industries and commerce told KNS. Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Shilndra Kumar confirmed that the meeting has been postponed. The Secretary (Internal Security) of Ministry of Home Affairs, who is also the Chairman of the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) Committee, had called a meeting of the SRE Standing Committee in North Block Wednesday afternoon. The representatives from the state were the Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Shlinder Kumar and the top officials of the State’s home department. Sources said that the Ministry of Home Affairs was holding detailed deliberations on proposals mooted by the concerned authorities of the State on Loc trade including the ex-gratia amount being given to the victims of the militant attacks. According to the sources, proposal of State Government regarding modernization of J&K Police was also to be discussed during the meeting. The sources said that that proposals of J&K regarding financial grant amounting to Rs 6.60 crore for upgradation of J&K Police Public School and financial grant amounting to Rs 5 crore for establishment of Police Pariwar Fund was also part of the agenda of the meeting.
