Four militants were Monday killed in two encounters in different parts in Kashmir. Defense spokesman Colonel NN Joshi in a statement said that Army and JKP today killed three militants in South Kashmir. “Acting on a tip off regarding presence of some terrorists in village Silgam near Aishmuqam, a team of Rashtriya Rifles and JKP launched a swift operation. As the Army and JKP approached the suspect house, the militnats came out firing indiscriminately,” the spokesman said. Police said the militants belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen A police spokesman said the slain militants were identified as Sartaj Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone of Wopzan, Adil Ahmad Sheikh son of Fayaz Ahmad of Sheikh Mohalla, Bijbehara and Tanveer Ahamd Bhat son of Mubarak Ahmad Bhat of Baba Mohalla, Bijbehara. The spokesman claimed that Aadil Sheikh was involved in the killing of a policeman Arif Nazir Khan of Police Station Bijbehara on 16th June this year. “Tanveer was involved in the killing of a civilian Javid Ahamd Sofi @ Waza son of Mohammad Ismail resident of Bijbehara. Javid was killed by militants on 22-03-2015 at New Colony Bijbehara,” he claimed. He claimed 3 AK-47 riffles, 6 magazines, 1UBGL, 3 UBGL Grenade, 1 pistol with magazine were recovered from the encounter site. Meanwhile, in the ongoing encounter in Manigah forest of Kupwara another militant was killed and war like stores recovered, the spokesman said.
