Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh Tuesday Skipped review meeting of the Srinagar District Development Board (DDB) reportedly following his differences with the Finance Department. Sources told KNS that the meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syeed at Banquet hall Srinagar and all the members except the Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh attended the meeting. Sources said that due to the differences with the finance department, the Deputy CM preferred to stay at Jammu rather than to attend the meeting in Srinagar. Sources said that the differences arose because the finance department has directly released crores of rupees for workshops repairing transformers instead of routing funds through the Power Development Department (PDD), held by Dr Singh. Sources said that as per the norms, the Finance Department had to release funds in favour of the PDD, which had to make payments to the agencies repairing the damaged transformers of the PDD. “All government decisions are taken as per official procedure. Such decisions in which procedure is not followed is a sheer violation of the rules,” one of the government official told KNS. He said that in this case the department bypassed the PDD ministry and made the payments to the agencies. Sources said that the matter has been brought to the notice of the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Repeated attempts to reach for the Deputy Chief Minister’s comments failed as he was not available for comments. However his PRO said that he is in the meeting in Jammu that would take time.
