For the fourth consecutive day, Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district observed a spontaneous shutdown to mourn the death of three local Hizbul Mujahideen militants killedon Monday. According to GNS Correspondent, all the shops, commercial establishments, schools and banks were closed in Bijbehara, which is the hometown of Chief Minister Muhammad Sayeed. The shutdown also affected vehicular movement in the area. On Monday this week, three militants identified as Sartaj Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone residents of Wopzan, Bijbehara, Adil Ahmad Sheikh son of Fayaz Ahmad resident of Sheikh Mohalla, Bijbehara and Tanveer Ahamd Bhat son of Mubarak Ahmad Bhat resident of Baba Mohalla Bijbehara were killed in a brief encounter at Aishmuqam area of Pahalgam in Anantnag district. The people of the Town after offering Friday prayers took out a massive protest rally and staged anti-India protests. The protesters marched upto the houses of the slain youths where they paid rich tributes to them. The situation however remained peaceful in the Town. On Tuesday, thousands of people staged massive protests in area during and after the funeral of militants. The protesters had also hoisted a Pakistani flag on the ancestral house of Chief Minister in the Town.
