A youth in Bandipora village has accused police of harassing him, his family, and their relatives “without any case against him.” According to KNS correspondent, Nitta Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar of Dangar Mohalla in Hajin Sonawari alleged that police has been raiding his home for past several weeks. “The police harass my family, relatives and ask them to come to police station Hajin. They accuse me of stone pelting and other flimsy cases. I have no involvement in anything yet police harasses me,” Dar, who is a butcher, said. Police claimed that Dar is involved in cases of stone pelting and raising Pakistan flags during protests. “Dar has 12 FIRs of stone pelting and other cases registered against him. He is absconding and to arrest him we visit his family to ask about him,” SP Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Choudhary, said. Advocate, Jalaludin of Bandipora said that police cannot harass the family of Dar even when he is involved in some cases. “Harassing and threatening the youth family is against law. Police cannot arrest, detain or harass a father for his son’s alleged involvement,” the lawyer said.
