Taking note after KNS reported that administrators in District Hospital Pulwama have failed to repair a faulty generator, the Government Wednesday said that a new generator will be installed in the hospital “within a week”. “A 125 KVA genset will be, Insha’Allah, delivered and installed within a week. The old genset shall be serviced and put as standby power source for the hospital,” Project Director Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell, Saadut Hussain, wrote on his Face book Hussain wrote that today on priority took up the matter with MS Pulwama, CMO Pulwama and genset suppliers. “Hope that resolves a critical issue of this hospital, which was pending for years. Sad part that for years repeated requests from the hospital for replacement of genset or enhancement of power source had not been heeded to, risking precious patient lives (sic),” he said. The news about lack of generator in the hospital was reported extensively by KNS on Tuesday. The doctors and the administrators are referring patients to other hospitals as the administration has failed in repairing an old generator in the hospital from the past one month. Due to unavailability of electricity, the hospital has closed its operation theater for patients who need surgeries. “Only emergency surgeries in Gynecology section are being done by running an alternative small generator till surgery is done. All dated surgeries are either cancelled,” a doctor in the hospital had told KNS.
