The senior leader of Muslim League (ML) Tuesday said that the High Court here ordered the release of ML chairman and leader of the hardline-faction of Hurriyat, Masrat Aalam. In a statement to KNS, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, ML spokesman said that Justice Ataar in High Court today ordered Aalam’s release here today. Aalam who was released in the month of March after four and a half years of imprisonment and after passing one month; he was re arrested by the forces for raising a slogan (in favour of Pakistan) in Srinagar and was taken to Kot Balwal jail. While condemning the frequent arrests of Aalam, Ganai said that it was 31st PSA against him, which exposes the democracy of India. Pertinently, Bhat was arrested by police on 18 October 2010 during the peak of summer unrest and since then he has been re-arrested several times soon after his release from one case. Masrat has been jailed for more than 14 years on various charges. He came into limelight during the Amarnath land row in 2008. He is considered to be instrumental is formulation the ‘Ragda’. Alam’s family comprises mother, sister and wife.
