Army Thursday said that it has killed two LeT militants in an encounter yesterday evening at Gasu Village in Pulwama District. A defense spokesman said that the Army and police had launched a joint search operation yesterday afternoon based on the intelligence inputs regarding militants in Harpura Mohalla, of Gasu in Pulwama. “The security Forces cordoned off the suspected houses and commenced deliberate search of the houses. While search was in progress, the militants tried to break the cordon by firing indiscriminately following which an intense exchange of fire ensued,” he said, adding that two LeT militants were gunned down. “One militant was identified as Manzoor Ahd Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, of Aloochibagh, Kakapore, who joined LeT outfit in May 2015. The identity of the other militant, who was of foreign origin, is yet to be ascertained,” he said, adding the operation also led to the recovery of two AK 47 rifles, four AK 47 Magazines and other war like store from the slain militants. The bodies of the militants were handed over to police.
