On the appeal of Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday people everywhere in the state came out on the roads after the Friday prayers and held peaceful protest demonstration in favour of the demand of disbanding and disarming of the VDC terror groups who are active in the Jammu division to suppress the Muslims of the region and on the occasion the people raised anti-VDC and pro-freedom slogans. In this regard Tehreek-e-Hurriyat General Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai led the protest demonstration at Hyderpora Chowk, senior Hurriyat (G) leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan led at Baramullah, Hafiz Bashir Ahmad Farooqi at Pulwama, Bashir Ahmad Qurashi at Awantipora, Ameer Hamza at Delina Baramullah, Salman Yousuf at Bandipora, Sayed Imtiyaz Hayder, Zaffar Habib and Abdul Hameed Magray at Hyderpora, Mehraj-ud-din Rabbani at Panthachowk, Hafiz Mudasir Nadvi at Prang Ganderbal, Qari Lateef at Sarhama Gandarbal while as Mohammad Yaseen Attaay, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Ghulam Nabi Darzi, Mohammad Subhan Wani, and Haji Qoodus led the different protest demonstrations at Sopore. While addressing the protesters at Hyderpora Chowk, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat General Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai said that till the VDC terrorists are not disarmed and the weapons are not snatched from these criminals and they are not held accountable for their crimes, we will continue to protest against them. He said that VDC is a government sponsored militia of the selected communal and fanatic criminals who have been armed to suppress the peaceful voices of the Muslims of Jammu region. This terrorist force has a long and cruel history of oppression and suppression in the Jammu Division and they are functioning independently beyond the control of the state government. Sehrai said that the inception of the communal backed government in the Jammu & Kashmir has further encouraged these terrorists and they started to show their real face now. He said that we will not leave the Muslims of Jammu region on the mercy of the armed fanatic communal forces. While terming the issues like the VDCs or the frequent cease fire violations on the borders as the offshoots of the forced military occupation of India in Kashmir, Sehrai said that Kashmir dispute is the basic and prime issue for the prevailing tension, disorder and disharmony in the entire South Asian region and resolution of this issue in and accordance to the wishes and aspirations of its people is the priority of the time.
