Jama’at Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) Monday strongly denounced the unjustified arrest of a number of youth in Pulwama and Kakapora towns and alleged forces of implicating innocent youth on flimsy and fabricated charges and subjecting them to third degree inhuman torture. In a statement to KNS, JeI spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali said these innocent detainees include some prominent religious and social personalities of the locality including a famous local Jama’at-e-Islami leader and preacher Abdul Rehman Shaheen of Lettar village without any reasons. He said police has let loose a reign of terror in the area resulting in the general harassment of the public. JeI demands unconditional release of all the detainees and stopping the intimidation of the local people. Jama’at also demands immediate release of Abdul Rehman Shaheen of Jama’at-e-Islami from illegal detention. Meanwhile Jama’at-e-Islami delegation led by Moulana Jehangir Ahmad Nadwi visited Rambagh where they expressed solidarity with noted academician and legal expert Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain on the demise of his mother, and took part in the last rites of deceased.
