Mourners are making a beeline to the Fairview residence in Gupkar here to condole Mehbooba Mufti and other close family members the death of her father and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Senior PDP leader and its General Secretary Nizamu Din Bhat told KNS that hundreds of people are coming to Gupkar to condole the demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and praying for his departed soul. Bhat said that Taziyat will be held at Fairview Gupkar, the official residence of Mehbooba Mufti. “All the guests are received here, Mehbooba ji and other close family members are at Gupkar,” he said. He said that in Bijbehera, the hometown of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, other family members are receiving people who come to condole the death of the party patron. “Condolence meetings will continue at the Gupkar residence, while congregrational prayers (Fateha Khwani) will be held at Dara Shikoh Park at Bijbehara at 11 am on Sunday. Condolence meeting will continue at Gupkar home of Mehbooba after 2.00 pm on Sunday,” he said. From ordinary people to politicians and VIPs thronged the Gupkar residence of the late leader to call on the bereaved family members. Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Parliamentarians, Legislators, Chairman, State Accountability Commission and Judges of the J&K High Court were among those who came to offer their condolences. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away on Thursday morning at AIIMS hospital in Delhi, 14 days after he was admitted there. He is the third Chief Minister to die in office after Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and G. M. Sadiq. The state has declared seven days of mourning as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
