In the backdrop of political crises in Jammu and Kashmir after the death of the Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syeed, State BJP top leaders and its legislators held a closed-door meeting in Jammu on Saturday evening. Sources told KNS that the meeting discussed the process of government formation and BJP’s support to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for being the Chief Minister of the state. “The BJP will enter into formal talks with the PDP through the agenda of alliance from Monday. Apart from the political developments in the state, the meeting mainly discussed the process of government formation,” one of the top BJP leaders said. Sources said that except prominent leaders of the BJP and its legislators no one was allowed inside the meeting room. The meeting has gained significance as there are speculations about the purpoted differences between PDP and BJP over the new government formation and the speculations that Congress is making efforts to form Government with the help of some Independent MLAs with PDP. It has been learnt that the meeting also discussed about the new faces to be inducted into the government. “Though the majority of the ministers are to be retained, but coming up of some new faces can’t be ruled out,” sources said. The BJP sources maintained that a final call on the Government formation will be taken by the Central high command. Meanwhile one of the PDP leaders said there will be no talks within the party till ‘congregational fateha’ of Mufti Sayeed, scheduled for Sunday on the Government formation. “The PDP Legislature Party will meet only after Sunday to elect party president and Mufti’s daughter, Mehbooba Mufti as the LP leader,” the leader said.
