The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday said that the party President Mehbooba Mufti will convene a meeting of its legislators and leaders very soon over formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir. “The party workers should not feel embarrassed over delay in formation of the government. The party is committed to take forward the agenda of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Mehbooba will convene a meeting of its legislators and leaders in the coming days and take a call over formation of the government in Jammu and Kashmir,” Senior PDP leader Nayeem Akhtar told KNS while attending the Fateh-Khawani along with Party president Mehbooba Mufti, party legislators, leaders and workers of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at his grave in Dara Shikoh garden in south Kashmir Bijbehara. However, he said the party had not taken any decision over government formation so far. Akhtar said the party will be strengthened and the uncertainty over government will also come to an end. “We are all mourning the death of our leader and party has not yet talked on government formation. All the party members and Mehbooba Ji will talk shortly and proper decision will be taken,” he said. He added, “Once the meeting is held, everything will be clear. Media will first come to know about the decision that will be taken in the meeting.” On the first Friday after former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s death, as customary, Mehbooba Mufti along with her family and partisans visited Dara Shikoh garden and prayed at the grave of her father. Mehbooba was accompanied by her brother, Sayeed Tasaduk, Mufti Sayeed’s and her sisters, Mufti Sayeed’s brother Mohammad Amin Mufti besides Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, legislators, and hundreds of party workers. However, Mehbooba didn’t speak to the media nor addressed the gathering. Amid moist eyes, floweral wrath was laid on the grave of Mufti Sayeed by his family and party members. “We were desperately waiting for Mehbooba Ji’s address,” a PDP worker who had come from Awantipora said. Meanwhile, PDP General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir on behalf of Party President Mehbooba Mufti thanked party cadres and people of the state in general including various social organizations, unions and associations who stood with the bereaved family in this hour of grief. In a statement, Mir said, “People have immense respect and love for late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and our party is thankful to them for remembering him in their prayers and being with us.” He thanked the party workers who sympathized with the leadership on Mufti’s sad demise.
