Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) and volunteers and Medical Representatives of Kashmir jointly staged a protest on Saturday over absence of medicines and other related things from Valley hospitals. The protesters assembled at press enclave and were chanting slogans against the administration. While talking to KNS, the protesters said that it is very sad to observe that every day large numbers of people are falling prey to dog bites and more shocking is that state government has failed to check the increasing population of stray dogs as it sans in concrete policies to check the menace. If we still did not wake up to this menace, the situation is deteriorating from bad to worse. They said that it is sad to observe that now dog curfew is everywhere and kids are ambushed by them on their way to school, market or play grounds. “We have appealed the higher ups to look into the issue at earliest and will wait for ten days to see what action will be taken over it,” they said. They further said that people of Kashmir are being forced to spend hefty amount at private clinics as the Valley hospitals san medicines thereby leaving people to suffer. The protesters the higher ups hardly pay heed over it. “The administration should look into the issue and redress the problem at earliest as the rising number of dogs has posed threat to the lives of people as so far hundreds of persons especially children have became the targets of stray dogs.” “The officials dealing with curbing the dog menace are also leaving valley inhabitants on god’s mercy as no action has been taken to curb the rising population of dogs due to which the people of Valley suffer,” They later appealed higher ups to look into the matter and redress the problem as soon as possible.
