Showing resentment against the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of Technical Education and their college administration, scores of Kashmir Government Polytechnic (KGP) Engineering students Tuesday held a demonstration here at press enclave to press the higher ups for their demands. The students were protesting against JKSBOTE and KGP authorities for disallowing them from appearing in examination for falling short to meet the required class attendance. The students assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and were chanting slogans against the technical board and college authorities. Speaking to KNS, the students said that it is true that they were non-punctual but they were not knowledgeable about the strict norms about the shortage of attendance. “Earlier the same was not the rule in the college but the teachers are taking revenge by not allowing us to sit in examination as in June last year a student committed suicide after he failed in exams. It later turned out that the result had been erroneous and he had actually passed,” protesting students said. They said that almost 145 students are being disallowed from appearing in examination. “The authorities should allow us to appear in the examination and should avoid taking revenge from us,” they demanded.
