While paying glowing tributes to 21 January 1990 Gowkadal Martyrs, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani reiterated his demand for impartial investigation of Gowkadal Massacre and all other massacres of this type by some independent institution and stern punishment to the perpetrators of this heinous crime against the humanity. He said that until the Indian armed forces who are involved in the war crimes in Kashmir are brought to books, the loss of precious human lives in this troubled state will continue to occur. On the directions of Syed Ali Geelani Thursday a huge protest march was taken out from Gowkadal Srinagar which was led by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat senior leader Raja Mehraj-ud-din Kalwal. The protestors marched through the lanes and bylanes of the Gowkadal area and raised pro-freedom and Pro-Islam slogans. The other pro-freedom youths and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activists who participated in the said protest include Syed Imtiyaz Hayder, Rameez Raja, Umar Adil Dar, Hafiz Mudasir Nadwi, Jamsheed Ahmad, Baigh Zahoor Ahmad, Mukhtar Ahmad, Jasif Nazir, Javaid Ahmad Baba, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Jan Mohammad Najar etc. In a statement to KNS, Syed Ali Geelani said that the great nations never forget their martyrs and carry forward their mission.
