CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami express grief and sorrow over the demise of Gen (Retd) K V Krishna Rao, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. “I was saddened to know the unfortunate demise of a general who apart from his other contributions as Chief of Indian Army served the people of Jammu & Kashmir in his capacity as Governor during critical and challenging period. I had opportunity to meet him often and found him deeply concerned about the sufferings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. At a time when thinking of political process was un-imaginable, he firmly believed that it is only through political process that the mounting sufferings of the people can be reduced. It is mostly he, who persuaded the Government of India (GOI) and the reluctant political parties in the state to go for elections.” “I visited him after quiting his governorship in Hyderabad and found him passionately remembering the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He was having deep faith in tolerance, brotherhood and secularism. He is no more but his contributions will always be remembered”.
