Stating that the hike in Special Police Officer’s (SPO) honorarium will be discussed in a meeting in Delhi on February 15, Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Wednesday said that police is trying its level best to help the people in every aspect. According to KNS correspondent, Rajendra while addressing to the people in police-public meet here at Sogam Lolab said that the effect of the honorarium of Jammu and Kashmir SPO’s which was hiked by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs from Rs 3000 to Rs 6000 will be discussed in a meeting scheduled to be held at Delhi on February 15. Rajendra said that they are trying their level best to help the common people in every aspect. “There will be transparency in the recruitment of policy. Department will be recruiting 500 new sub-inspectors and the same will recruited transparently soon,” he said. He asked parents to focus on the education of their children. “You should support and encourage your children in their educational career so that their future will shine like stars,” Rajendra asked parents. DGP further said that they have started fight against the drug peddlers and drug addiction in the state. “There are 10 priorities of JK Police in 2016 among which, drug addiction and peddlers are on the top. We will hopefully vanish the same soon,” he said. While talking about 2014 deluge in Kashmir, DGP said that police has suffered huge loss in the deluge as its 700 vehicles got damaged while the estimated loss in the ferocious floods was 250 crore,” he said. Inspector General of Police, Javaid Mujtaba Gilani was also present on the occasion.
