Kashmir’s top separatist leadership on Sunday called for a Valley-wide shutdown over the killing of two innocent civilians by the forces in Kakpora are of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani condemned the killing in Pulwama and called for a complete shutdown across the Valley including Pirpanjal and Chenab regions against it. Geelani termed the killing of innocent civilians in Pulwama as ‘the worst kind of state terrorism of India in Jammu & Kashmir’. Condemning the killing of two civilians, Danish Farooq Mir of Ratnipora and Shaista Hamid of Laar Pulwama and injuries to seven civilians at the hands of forces personnel on the pretext of a gunfight, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Sunday called for a complete shutdown to protest against the two innocent killings on Monday. Stressing that the forces present in Jammu Kashmir were committing crimes against humanity and unleashing terror due to the unbridled powers that they enjoy under the “draconian laws” like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), the Mirwaiz said the merciless killing of innocent civilians was the worst example of state-sponsored terrorism. Terming the killing as an eye-opener for the international human rights bodies and international community, the APHC Chairman said the bloodshed of innocent people had been going on for the past many decades in Kashmir. Blaming the government for failing to fulfill the promises of putting an end to such acts of crime by the government forces, he said innocent civilian killings in Kashmir continued at the hands of Indian forces. Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik also called for a complete shutdown on Monday, against the killing of an innocent girl and a boy at Kakpora Pulwama. According to a statement issued to KNS, while condemning the unprovoked firing on innocent people in the garb of an encounter, Malik said that trigger happy Indian soldiers without any fear of penalization keep killing our kith and kin and international community, civil society and human rights organizations maintain their criminal silence over these innocent killings. What was the sin of 22 year old innocent girl Shaista Hameed and 18 year old boy Danish Farooq? Why have been they murdered? Malik questioned. He said that now so-called rulers and their authorities and also pro-India politicians and their parties will announce or ask for enquiry into these killings so that matter is buried but we want to tell them that their dramas are exposed now and they must know that according to the law of nature and law of justice they will have to answer for these murders and killings. “India is hell bent upon pushing our next generation to the wall and is promoting violence but international community for its trade and business interests if keeping silent over this state sponsored violence, this double standard and hypocrisy will bring disaster,” he said. Chairman of Democratic Freedom Movement (DFM), Shabir Ahmad Shah also condemned the killing and called for Valley-wide shutdown to protest against the killing of two innocents in Pulwama. He termed the killing as ‘worst state terrorism’ and said that the killing is an eye-opener for the International Community. Democratic Liberation Front (DLF), chief, Hashim Qureshi also called for a shutdown against the killing and condemned the act done by forces in South Kashmir.
