Strongly condemning the detention of Professor SAR Geelani after the arrest of JNU student, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that this detention has no constitutional and legal justification and it is an act of muzzling the freedom of expression. While demanding immediate release of Sayed Abdul Rehman Geelani and the JNU student, Syed Ali Geelani said that the secular and democratic claims of India are badly exposing day by day and this country is on its way to become an extremely intolerant Hindu Rashtr. In a statement issued to KNS from the New Delhi, Syed Ali Geelani said that despite being a great scholar, SAR Geelani is also a prominent human rights activist who every time work to highlight the excesses and atrocities in Jammu & Kashmir. For the crime of having interest with the Kashmir cause, he was also detained in the recent past and he was labeled with serious charges but the court later termed him innocent and he was released after a long time. Hurriyat (G) Chairman said that this time the arrest and registration of cases against Prof. SAR Geelani is just vengeance policy and the communal government of India want to punish him for Kashmir and the Muslims. He had done nothing like that for which he should be punished, he had just organized an academic type of seminar which was every way a peaceful and disciplined program. Syed Ali Geelani appealed the human rights organizations to take serious notice of the illegal detention of Abdul Rehman Geelani and the JNU student’s union president and use their influence for their immediate release. Meanwhile Syed Ali Geelani had termed the statement of Indian home minister Rajnath Singh as baseless and ridicules in he had tried to link the JNU event with Pakistan and Hafiz Sayeed. The Kashmiri leader said that the Indian rulers could not maintain their balance of mind when they are in revenge mood and they act in a very cheap and uncivilized ways. Nothing happened in the Jawaharlal Nehru University except that the students organized a program to show their solidarity with the Kashmiri nation. Syed Ali Geelani said that the way this event is projected and is linked with Pakistan, is very sorrowful and it also proves that the Indian rulers do not want to come out from their fanatic politics and they know nothing about the political and diplomatic protocols.
