Srinagar, March 17 : Two days after Kashmiri students at Mewar University Chittorgarh were attacked on false rumor of consuming beef in the varsity, Rajasthan police today registered a case against rumor mongers which led to the attack and have started probe in this regard.
Station House Officer, Gangrar, Labhu Ram, told that they have registered a case under FIR number 75/2016 under sections 323 and 341 IPC. “We are investigating who actually started the false rumor which led to the whole situation,” he said.
As already reported, the Kashmiri students were attacked by an unruly mob on the false accusation of consuming beef in the varsity. A lab test conducted by police in Rajasthan confirmed that not beef but mutton was consumed by the students after which four students hailing from Kashmir were released by local police.
The senior police officer said that the situation is limping back to the normalcy in the campus and they are maintaining a strict vigil on miscreants. Meanwhile, the routine class work resumed in the Varsity but Kashmiri students preferred to stay indoors as they fear renewed attacks. (GNS)
