Srinagar, March 17 : A J&K bank security guard was killed in a fire incident in Hawal area of Srinagar City on Thursday afternoon.
A police official told that the two security guards were present at an ATM machine near Islamia College in Old City when a 12-bore-gun of one of the guard went off and hitting chest of another guard.
It was not immediately known whether the guard was fired upon by his colleague or the rifle went off accidentally, the officer said.
In the incident the bank guard identified as Mohammad Altaf Lala son of Ghulam Ali, a resident of Saidpora, Eidgah sustained serious bullet injuries and was immediately shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment.
However, the injured Altaf later succumed to injuries, the officer said.
Meanwhile, police has arrested another security guard Javid Ahmad Dar and he is being questioned. (GNS)
