Sopore, 04 Apr 2016. Hundreds of people participated in the Dental Camp organized by Army Camp, Sopore at Mazbug from 02 -04 Apr 2016. Dr Pratibha Athawale, an Ahmedabad based dental surgeon, who has to her credit, an admirable track record of rendering free medical services to poor and needy in remote parts of North Eastern India such as Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, spearheaded the camp tirelessly from 10 A.M to 5 P.M on each of these days. Assistance in terms of a medical officer, two dental surgeons and a dental technician was also provided by Dr Sami, Block Medical Officer, Sopore. Over 400 patients were treated during the camp to include minor fillings, root camp and dental care.
Students and teachers of AGS, Sopore were the first to utilize this opportunity in an organized manner, wherein more than a hundred students underwent the dental checkup on each day. Importance of oral hygiene was impressed upon the children and their parents. The team of doctors lauded the efforts made by the school & Army in this direction. Subsequently, the parents of students & locals also made maximum utilization of the dental camp in large numbers.
“Many people from poorer sections of society are unable to receive the required dental care and this kind of a dental camp is a boon to them” stated Mrs Harvinder Kour, Principal AGS, Sopore.
This Army initiative was heartily welcomed by all the beneficiaries who also requested for more such camps.
