May 14, : State Women’s Commission Saturday said that college authorities have been directed to identify the teaching staff who thrashed girl students when they tried to perform during a cultural programme.
They said that it is really sorry to state that some people don’t feel comfortable with the female folk and try to suppress the voice and activities of the girls.
“This is unacceptable that teachers sit on chairs and enjoy Bollywood music and when it comes to Kashmiri folk music, they thrash girl students wearing pehran to perform “Rouf”. State Women’s Commission Chairperson Nayeema Mehjoor told.
Meanwhile, State Women’s Commission in a statement said that Chairperson Nayeema Mehjoor visited the Tahira Khanam’s College of Education and directed the college authorities to ensure security for the girl students.” (CNS)
