Pattan, 17 May 2016. Army in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, district Baramulla today organised, a first of its kind, “Chinar 9 Jawan Mega Kissan Mela cum Exhibition” at Govt Middle School ground, Tapar Payeen, Pattan.
The highlight of the event was awareness lectures and display stalls providing a wide array of information on Agriculture equipments, Beehive, Mushroom, Potted plants, Utility of Solar Energy by Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Association (JAKEDA), Fisheries, Sericulture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry (Including live animals with Disease Diagnostic Kit). Apart from the information dissemination on the latest technology free seed packets were also distributed to farmers & villagers attending the “Mega Kissan Mela cum Exhibition”.
The event was organised to facilitate the farmers to avail latest technologies available to increase their annual yield. The area received less snowfall this year and also adversely affected by untimely rain due to which farmers were fearing loss in cash crop. To provide genuine assistance, Army under the aegis of Chinar Corps approached the concerned administration for executing timely preventive measure. The event received overwhelming response from the seminar which was allended by over 1500 locals of Pattan and adjoining area.
The “Chinar 9Jawan Mega Kissan Mela cum Exhibition” was attended by Director Agriculture, SSP, Distt Veterinary Head, CAO, Chief Animal & Sheep Husbandry Officer alongwith Army and TA Officers from patten, Hamre Brig SH Naqvi, Commander of Haiderbegh Garrison expressed his appreciation to the Baramulla Agriculture Department for making this event a success and reaching out to the farmers of Pattan Tehsil in such a big way. He urged the audience to derive maximum benefit of this golden opportunity. The farmers were very appreciative about this exhibition and showed keen interest in understanding the nuances for betterment of their farm produce.
