After 12th examinations, the first paper of the secondary level examinations was conducted successfully today.
Over 50,000 students appeared for the class 1oth annual examinations.
The state government has setup elaborate security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of examinations.
Section 144, which bars assembly of more than four persons, has been imposed at all centres. Special police squads have been set up monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, the figures provided by the Directorate of School Education (DSEK) Kashmir revealed that 558 centres were allotted for the exams which were held amid tight security arrangements.
A total of 55500 students appeared in the examination while 777 remained absent.
The percentage of students who appeared in the test was 98.61, they said.
