Srinagar, April 16 : Militants on Sunday late evening shot dead a former pro-government Ikhwan commander at Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Official sources told news agency that Abdul Rashid Parray alias Billa, an Ikhwan Commander was fired upon by a group of suspected militants near his residential house at Hajin at around 10:20 pm.
Parray was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, they said.
According to news agency, Parray was wanted in connection with a number of murder cases including massacre of seven civilians at Saderkote in Bandipora in 1996.
JK High Court had directed police to produce Parray in connection with the massacre but police had been insisting that he was absconding.
The High Court had passed the directions on a petition filed by the families of the civilians belonging to three families and include women and children.
The petition had sought investigation to be completed in FIR 125/1996 registered in concerned police station. (GNS)
