Sopore , August 23 : Residents of Tawheedabad Tarzoo in north kashmir’s baramulla district on wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the acute water shortage.
A large number of residents of the village particularly women and children on wednesday hit the roads and shouted slogans against PHE department for failed to provide them regular water supply and for ignoring their sufferings in the absence of proper water supply.
The residents while talking with Kashmir Despatch said that to deal with water shortage during summers is a difficult task. Most of the time our women flock have to travel to a larger distance for obtaining portable drinking water.
“Our area has been grappling with the water crisis for more than one month which has now reached an unbearable point” said protesting women told Kashmir Despatch.
The protesting women told Kashmir Despatch that in some areas of sopore belt there is extra supply of drinking water while as in other areas consumers are not getting sufficient supply even on alternate days.
However the residents appealed the local legislator to look into the matter.
Meanwhile when contacted officials in PHE department told Kashmir Despatch that we are trying to provide maximum water supply to the area, but due to the low pressure the residents are facing problems he however added that within no time they will get water as per schedule.
