Baramulla : The department of power supply claim to have spent crores on the replacement and upgrading of power lines and other infrastructure, but complacency at work at many places still poses a threat to the lives and safety of people.
Residents of Hilltop Colony Ushkwara claimed that the height of the power lines carrying 11,000 volts of power is less than 20 ft which is dangerous and unsafe.
Sajad Ahmed a local resident told Kashmir Despatch that there are a lot of shops where 11kV transmission lines are spread all over and dangerously close to the residential premises, schools and medical centres.
The residents said that due to the neglect attitude of PDD department the power lines have been dangling low, which will anytime result in mishaps.
The residents while talking with Kashmir Despatch said that we are worried about the houses and other structures that have come up perilously close to high-tension wires added that lot of times we approached concern authorities but till yet nothing positive happened.
However the residents of Hilltop Colony Ushkwara again appealed to the PDD authorities to look into this matter.
Meanwhile authorities in PDD Baramulla was not available for commits despite repeated attempts.
