Sopore : Residents of Warpora took to streets on Saturday to protest against prolonged power outrages and water shortages.
Reports reaching to Kashmir Despatch said that protesting residents blocked Sopore_Bandipora road at Warpora to register their protest against water and power crisis in the area since weeks. Reports added the protestors shouted slogans against government for failed to provide them basic facilities.
We have been facing prolonged electricity breakdowns in our area for the last many weeks. We have had no power or water the entire day,” said Iqbal a local resident to Kashmir Despatch.
Group of protesting inhabitants also spoke out against power breakdowns in their localities, which, they say, have continued despite their repeated complaints to the concern Power Development Department.
The protesters dispersed after they were given assurances by Station House Officer Warpora.
Meanwhile officials in PHE Division Sopore told Kashmir Despatch that fault in water tanker forces people to hit the roads, added that problem has been solved and residents will get water as per schedule today onwards only.
However officials in PDD Sopore were not available for commits despite repeated attempts.
