Baramulla : Appealing the people of district Baramulla to maintain brotherhood and not to fall prey of people with concealed motives, MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh Thursday said that Baramulla town is the district headquarter and all offices are meant to be stationed at district headquarter.
In a press briefing MLA Baramulla said that resentment by people of Sopore against setting up Joint Director Education office at Baramulla has no takers.
“It is a government decision. Education Minister Altaf Bukhari made a commitment with me for a joint director office at Baramulla. Baramulla is a district headquarter and every office is meant to be at district headquarter, though we have many offices at Sopore,”Javed Hassan Beigh said.
He said that neither Baramulla nor Sopore has any divine right to hold a government office but being a district headquarter it is well understood that joint director office should be at district headquarter only.
He appealed people of the twin towns to maintain brotherhood.
“We are brothers. Sopore is part of Baramulla. Few people with concealed motives want to divide us but I will not let it happen. There are many offices at Sopore, we have separate ADC at Sopore which in real terms is against the rule. But we don’t ask these offices back. Let it there but protesting against a government rule is out of imagination,” he said.
MLA Baramulla was talking to media after formation of Coordination Committe by people of Sopore against what they called as shifting of joint director office to Baramulla.
MLA Baramulla said that the office was never inaugurated at Sopore.
While strongly condemned the statement of MLA Baramulla Traders Federation President Sopore Haji Mohammad Ashraf said this will never happen, he said that we will die but will not make this possible for authorities to shift this office from Sopore to Baramulla, he said how can for their personal benefits we Soporians will be ignored from developmental works added that time has come now where early single resident of Sopore will fight for their right, added that If government will not stop this office here in town we will go for bigger protests and government will be responsible for that.
Continuing showing their anger over the statement of MLA Baramulla Senior citizen of Sopore told that we don’t have any personal issue with Baramulla town but this post has been announced for North Kashmir and for that Sopore is a suitable place and also is middle between all towns, added that if this office will be shifted from Sopore what about Bandipora and Kupwara.
Advocate Azim Pandith while talking with Kashmir Despatch said that this is really injustice with the Sopore town, he said how can happen this after inaugurated office in Sopore town, he said that for personal benefits this issue is rising, he said that we all soporians will fight for this cause under one banner.
Meanwhile despite repeated attempts MLA Sopore was not available for commits.
When tried to contact PDP District President Irshad Rasool Kar his phone was switched off.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier in this week a massive protest rocked in Sopore by Joint Coordination Committee Sopore against Joint Director Education office which as per them was inaugurated in Sopore town. The Committee body later in the protest said that this was announced by State Govt before two years and finally after long struggle concern office was inaugurated in Sopore town.
