Srinagar: Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah On Saturday said that there is no option of independent Kashmir as it is surrounded by nuclear powers.
Dr Farooq Abdullah said, “Kashmir lies among the nuclear powers, on one side we have China and Pakistan and on the other we have India”
In a party meeting held in Poonch district, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said that Kashmir has not enough resources to survive on its own.
“We have no atom bombs, no army, and no jets. How are we going to survive as an independent nation?”
In the same breath, he asserted that having said so, that doesn’t make Kashmiris slaves of India. He urged India to respect and honour the aspirations and dignity of people of Kashmir otherwise the situation won’t change.
Abdullah urged India to win the hearts and minds of the people of Kashmir and nothing else will work even if India builds roads of gold.
Denouncing the notion of the solution to the Kashmir problem by guns and bullets, Abdullah took on Pakistan and said that they are not able to handle themselves how come they benefit the Kashmiris.
