Uri, Aug 4, : The premises of Tehsil headquarter Uri is housed with shrubs and muck for the last many months and the local administration is helpless about the problem.
Locals and visitors said that they are facing a lot of hardships in reaching the government offices located at headquarter. “The place doesn’t seem to be an official one now. It has now turned into a jungle with full of dirt all around,” said Manzoor Ahmad, a local.
“Huge muck is available around the place which has subsequently developed the potholes there is posing a serious threat to the lives of the visitors,” he said adding “If nothing is done in this regard, any untoward incident can happen anytime,”
he added: “This has not happened for the first time but the local administration never paid an attention to eradicate the problem.”
“The administration seems not to be serious in clearing the mess caused due to the official apathy,” said a delegation of locals from main town Uri.
It is pertinent to mention that the Uri headquarter has a dozen of government offices in its premises which include tehsil office, Zonal Education Office, Youth Service and Sports, PHE & Irrigation, Rural Development Department, Agriculture Department, Food & Supply Office and a officers club.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary said he has received a communication about the mess at headquarter. “I have deputed the tehsildar and Naib-Tehsildar to look into the problem and come up with a report,” the SDM said.
