Sopore, Sep 14 : Clashes between protesters and the police took place after the Friday prayers in the Sopore town of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that scores of youth assembled at Teliyan Mohallah Arampora of town and started shouting pro-freedom and pro_Azadi slogans within short time the large gathering of angry youth started pelting stones on deployed forces.
The police lobbed teargas shells to disperse the protesters. However, there were no reports of any injuries in the incident.
The police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were deployed in large numbers at different places including Main Chowk, Tehsil side in town to prevent any law and order situation after the Friday prayers.
Shops and business establishments are closed , while traffic is also thin on roads on the shutdown call given by JRL against the Hurriyat activist Hakim-ul-Rahman who was killed by unidentified gunmen near his house in Bomai area of Sopore on Sep 8.
Pertainally earlier this day a youth was injured in clashes when they were protesting against the killing of of two militants.
