Sopore : In-order to aware general public about the better heath facilities and mobilising efforts in support of mental health “RAAHAT” the only mental health organisation of North Kashmir celebrated World Mental Health Day at Guru Hospital in Sopore town on Wednesday.
Every year 10th October is commemorated as World Mental Health Day, and this year the theme chosen by the World Federation for Mental Health was Young people and Mental health in a changing world.
In a half-day function Chairman of “Raahat” Aashiq Hussain Zaki said that It is our social responsibility, until and unless mental health problems are recognized and treated at the right time an individual can not lead a happy life and any nation cannot progress.
He said that “RAAHAT” has established a counselling centre at Sopore hospital, where everyone suffering from any mental health issue can get free professional help.
A social activist Advocate Mursaleen also threw light on the occasion and said that if someone has any mental health issue he/she should not hesitate to consult mental health and should frankly speak about this problem so that mental health issuese can be treated without medicines.
Besides Civil Society members, large number of Teachers, Students, Social activists participated in the awareness programme.
