J&K Students Association Condemns FIR against JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh and 19 others

Date:

J&K Students Association, here on today Strongly condemned the Delhi Police’s action of filing an FIR against JNUSU President and 19 others in connection with the Violence that took place in Varasity, instead of booking those who made an attempt to kill them. Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami in a statement said that we condemned it in harshest words and whatever they did is not acceptable.

He termed the FIR on Aishe Ghosh and 19 other Students as unfortunate and said this is a deliberate attempt to involve students in the field which may have adverse results. He said that Lodging FIR against Students Union President and other Students who were assaulted by masked attacker’s is totally Unprecedented, Unfortunate, Unlawful, illegal & illegitimate, there are no words to condemn it. While the attackers are roaming free, the Government is trying to terrorise the victims by registering FIR against them, he said.

He said that, attacking with Sticks and Iron rods against Unarmed students and later lodging students under fake cases is really dangerous and alarming. The administration had given the names of students union office bearers including its president Aishe Gosh in connection with the vandalism but police have not put her name or that of other students in the accused column of the FIRs. It was ‘unfortunate’ that a case had been registered against the “girl who had 18- 19 stitches on her head, he added.

He urged Govt to discharge this FIR otherwise. ABVP Activists treated the University like a warzone and whatever happened that is horrible, he said. We demand that, an independent judicial inquiry should be set up to investigate into the incident, he added.
