Srinagar,Oct 16 : A militant was apprehended during a gunfight in Chadoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.

An oficial told Kashmir Despatch that one militant was caught alive during gunfight in Chadoora along with an AK-47 rifle.

He was accompanied by the deserted SPO, who fled from the SOG camp Chadoora three days back with 2 AK-47 rifles, officials added.

The officer identified arrested militant as Jahangir Ahmad Bhat of Chadoora, who had recently joined the militancy while SPO Altaf Hassan managed to escape from encounter site during gunfight the officer added.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar on Friday said that police have busted an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of militants and arrested six militant associates besides seizing six vehicles that were used by militants in carrying out attacks on security forces on national highway.

As per Kashmir Despatch, Addressing the press conference at police station Pantha Chowk, IGP said that a series of attacks took place from August 14 this year to October 5 that include an attack on  police and SSB men at Nowgam, Srinagar on August 14 in which two policemen were killed and one INSAS riffle snatched as well.

The IGP said that six militant associates were arrested that include Waseem Ahemd GAnai of Ganaimohalla, Chatergam, Chadoora,  Faisal Mushtaq Ganai of Aribagh, Nowgam,  Shakir Ahmed Dar of Marvel, Kakapora, Pulwama,  Suhail Shabir Ganai of Ganai Mohalla Chattergam, Chadoora, Budgam, Umar Nisar of Iqbal Coloney Wanbal, Shakerpora,, Nowgam, Srinagar and Sahil Nisar of Aribagh, Nowgam.

He said that six vehicles were also seized from the arrested militant associates that include Tavera, Pulsar bike, Yamaha bike, Alto while colour, Alto-800,  and another Bike.

Meanwhile, Police earlier on Friday claimed to have arrested a missing Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) man, who deserted from his camp in Budgam district on Wednesday alongwith one INSAS rifle and magazine in Rajouri district of Jammu division.

A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that SSB man identified as Altaf Hussain was apprehended by police from his native district while travelling in a truck.

The officer said ammunition which he had taken away from Nagam camp Chadoora was also recovered from him.

A case has been registered and further investigation has been initiated officer added.
